sign, sign everywhere a sign

IMG_1443.JPG
I've started going through some of my photos from my trip to India last summer, trying to work through the Devanagari, and Trivial Matters helped me with this one. That was a real labor of love on his part, too; it took me at least half an hour, with TM saying "Now what do you think could come after LA?". It's amazing to me how thrown I am by fonts that are different from those in my book. If you want to reenact the painful process, click on the photo to go to the flickr page, where I put the answers and some notes on the bits I found hardest.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has problems reading different fonts. As soon as it doesn't look like it does in the book I find it incredibly hard. Especially since I suck at conjuncts. I had hoped that people wouldn't use them that often in real life but I guess I was wrong ... *sigh*

Gawd, me three re. the fonts problem! There are photographs of various signs in my book and I'm having such a hard time recognising them. Also, I can't get any of the conjuncts, except the really simple ones like TT, stay in my head for over 10 minutes ...
